To find out the levels of blood glucose and A1C in establishing glycemic control, used for the diagnosis as well as assessment of diabetes. This test is for you if

  • you have sign and symptoms of diabetes
  • you have unexplained tiredness, fatigue and lack of energy
  • you consume more than normal levels of sugars and carbohydrate
  • you have increased urination, thirst and dry mouth
  • you have a history of recurrent infections, yeast infections or slow healing
  • you have pain, numbness and tingling in hand and feet
  • you have a family history of diabetes
  • you have a history of gestational diabetes

Preparing for your test

Overnight fasting of 8-10 hours is needed for fasting blood glucose. Your can take water and your regular medications while preparing for the test unless prescribed otherwise by your Health care provider. Those who don’t fast may show elevated blood glucose.

After the test

After your specimen is taken, it takes a few business days to process and report it, although processing time varies for individual tests. You will receive your results with a relevant reporting. In case of results that are outside the expected ranges, please consult you PCP or Health care coordinator.
